Epic Story sends Pocoyo to Canada, strikes toy deal for Hailey & the Hero Hearts

Hailey & the Hero Hearts debuted in China last summer

MIPCOM: Knowledge Network in Canada has acquired Spanish preschool hit Pocoyo from Epic Story Media, which has also struck a toy line deal for its Hailey & the Hero Hearts series.

Produced by Zinkia Entertainment, Pocoyo (209×7’) has been a huge hit around the world since its initial launch in 2005. Its most recent debut was on WarnerMedia Kids & Family’s preschool block Cartoonito in the US last month. The series follows a little boy as he discovers the world around him.

Epic Story Media, which distributes Pocoyo, has also agreed a deal with China-based Reesee Entertainment to launch a toy line for Epic’s Hailey & the Hero Hearts series. The 26×11’ show debuted in China last summer on more than 40 linear and digital platforms.

At Mipcom this week, meanwhile, Epic Story Media is shopping shortform series Pet Shop Zombies (20×5’), adventure comedy Dex & the Humanimals (6×11’) and digital-first series Piper’s Pony Tales (30×3.5’).

Epic Story is also producing and distributing Knowledge Network’s first original production for kids, entitled Luna, Chip & Inkie Adventure Rangers Go (40×11′). Described as “a socio-emotional series for kids age four to six, ” the series has been commissioned for French broadcast in Canada and is being produced in collaboration with Groupe Media TFO.

The music-filled series is based on the well-known animated characters that have appeared in Knowledge Kids branding, books and video games since 2008. Luna is an owl, Chip is a beaver and Inkie is an octopus, and in each episode the trio tackle problems in their town.
