eOne’s Nurses start work worldwide

Nurses debuted on Global earlier this year

Medical drama Nurses has been licensed to networks across Europe, the Middle East and Australia by distributor Entertainment One (eOne).

The show has been sold into Australia (Foxtel), Germany (NBCUniversal International Networks), France (Warner TV), Africa (NBCUniversal International Networks), Belgium (Streamz and SBS), the Netherlands (Talpa Network), Iceland (Siminn), Middle East, (Fox Network Group) and Turkey (FoxLife).

A deal for the US market is expected to close “imminently,” according to eOne.

Nurses is produced for Canadian broadcaster Global by ICF Films and eOne, in association with Corus Entertainment, with finance from the Canada Media Fund and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit. International distribution is handled by eOne.

After the 10-hour first season debuted on Global in January, it was recommissioned for a further 10 hours. Production on season two is underway, with Jordan Connor (Riverdale) joining as a guest star.

The character-driven series features an ensemble cast including Tiera Skovbye (Riverdale), Natasha Calis (The Firm), Jordan Johnson-Hinds (Blindspot), Sandy Sidhu (Grey’s Anatomy) and Donald Maclean Jr (Workin’ Moms).

The executive producers are Ilana Frank (Saving Hope, Rookie Blue), Linda Pope (Saving Hope, Rookie Blue), Patrick Tarr (Saving Hope, Cardinal), Vanessa Piazza (Lost Girl, Dark Matter), Adam Pettle (Burden of Truth, Saving Hope) and Jocelyn Hamilton (Mary Kills People, Ransom).

“Featuring a talented young and upcoming cast, Nurses is a fresh medical drama that is a timely reminder of the amazing 24/7 care that nurses provide whilst also managing their own challenging lives,” said Stuart Baxter, president of international distribution at eOne.
