EOne scores first rights deal for UK production

Producer-distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has secured its first multi-territory rights deal for a UK-produced series.

The deal hands eOne’s Australia-based distribution arm Hopscotch Entertainment digital and home video rights to Hunted, which comes from Shine Group’s UK prodco Kudos Film & TV. Shine International retains broadcast rights.

Hunted, which made its international debut at MipTV last week, will debut on the UK’s BBC1 and US cablenet Cinemax later this year. Shine International’s senior VP and head of EMEA Ruth Clarke said a “portfolio of broadcasters” would soon be announced for the show.

The news comes after eOne unveiled a plan to boost its production in EMEA, with a particular focus on Europe. EOne international president Peter Emerson is relocating to the UK to spearhead the move.
