The Canada-based entertainment studio has agreed a deal with LeVar Burton Entertainment (LBE), the production company led by actor, director and children’s TV host LeVar Burton, to develop the project for television.

Burton will serve as host and executive producer on the project, with eOne’s Tara Long and Geno McDermott and LBE’s Sangita Patel also serving as EPs.

The project is the latest Hasbro game to be adapted for the screen by eOne since Hasbro acquired the entertainment studio for around US$3.8bn in 2019. Other film and TV adaptations at various stages of development and production include Clue, Dungeons & Dragons, GI Joe, Power Rangers, Transformers, Mouse Trap and Risk.

More than 100 million copies of Trivial Pursuit have been sold internationally since it was launched in 1981. The game, which originated in Canada, tests players on their general knowledge and popular culture knowledge. It is sold in more than 26 countries and 17 languages.
