Entertainment One takes global rights to feature doc Joni Mitchell: 50 Years of Blue

Joni Mitchell: 50 Years of Blue is directed by Teresa Griffiths

MIPCOM: Transatlantic producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has acquired the international rights, excluding the UK, to a feature documentary about Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell.

Joni Mitchell: 50 Years of Blue highlights the drive and determination behind the musician’s international success, describing her life and career up to the point in 1970 when she began writing and recording what was to become her seminal 1971 album Blue, and the life she has lived in the 50 years since.

Directed by Teresa Griffiths, the doc is produced by Lonesome Pine Productions for UK pubcaster the BBC.

Noel Hedges, executive VP of acquisitions and international distribution at eOne, said: “This immersive documentary is sure to move audiences who fell in love with this iconic artist and those who are discovering Joni Mitchell’s work afresh today.”
