Endemol Shine NA hires inclusion lead

Banijay-owned Endemol Shine North America (ESNA) has appointed the chief development officer at the US Television Academy as its first executive VP of enterprise inclusion and social responsibility.

Karla Pita Loor

Karla Pita Loor’s newly created role will see her lead all social responsibility efforts for ESNA and its studio labels. These include Bunim/Murray Productions, Truly Original, 51 Minds Entertainment, Authentic Entertainment, Stephen David Entertainment and Mexico City-based Endemol Shine Boomdog.

Pita Loor will also lead all diversity and inclusion programme efforts, implementing new processes, policies and initiatives for ESNA’s corporate and production staffers.

These will be designed to support and enhance “an inclusive and equitable corporate culture and talent development practices,” the producer and distributor said.

ESNA is currently participating in the Television Academy Foundation’s recently announced Diversity & Inclusion Unscripted Internship Program, which was launched by Cris Abrego, chairman of the Americas at Banijay and president and CEO at Endemol Shine Holdings, and other top unscripted television producers.

Pita Loor has more than two decades of experience in organisational and brand partnerships, strategic philanthropy and social impact.

Additionally, Pita Loor, who hails from Ecuador, has served on the board of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers for two years, assuming the role of chair of the board in 2021.

For nearly a decade, Pita Loor led the Television Academy’s philanthropic partnerships division, including the last three years, when she served as chief development officer, overseeing all strategic partnerships and development for the Television Academy Foundation, the charitable and pro-social arm of the Emmy Awards organiser.

Abrego said: “At Endemol Shine North America, we have embraced diversity, inclusion and social responsibility as core business and moral imperatives and committed to content and a workforce that is reflective of the rich diversity of our audiences.

“As a leader in the social impact and entertainment space, with a deep understanding of the power of representation, Karla will be a key partner in creating a culture of inclusivity and innovation across our company, while leading strategic partnerships with like-minded organisations.”

Pita Loor added: “I’ve gotten to know Cris through our work at the Television Academy and been inspired by his commitment to representation and inclusion, which is reflected in the diverse slate of programming produced by Endemol Shine North America and its studio labels.”
