Endemol Shine North America has joined forces with Abby Greensfelder’s media company Everywoman Studios and Realscreen to expand their content creator programme for emerging female executives.

The Propelle Programme pairs up-and-coming female creators with leaders in the industry for mentorship and project workshopping to boost their careers.

With Endemol Shine North America’s backing, double the number of women will be able to participate in the programme and an additional strand focused on unscripted formats will be launched.

Spearheaded by Endemol Shine North America’s chief content officer Sharon Levy and Greensfelder, the new unscripted formats division will select three projects, and the creators of each will be paired with a female producer/mentor.

These projects will then be pitched to buyers at Realscreen West in 2022, while Endemol Shine North America, in partnership with Everywoman Studios, will provide financial support to further develop the winning format project.

Executive mentors for the inaugural format programme are Westbrook Studios’ head of unscripted Sahara Bushue, Bunim/Murray Productions’ president Julie Pizzi and VP of development Myiea Coy and executive VP and head of Fox Alternative Entertainment Allison Wallach.

In addition to the unscripted formats scheme, the Propelle Programme matches budding female documentary and docuseries producers with mentors.

The mentors this year are 44 Blue Production’s co-CEO and co-founder Stephanie Noonan Drachkovitch, Industrial Media’s senior VP of East Coast development and current programming Devon Graham Hammonds and North Maple Productions’ co-founder Rushie Perera.

Greensfelder, founder and CEO of Everywoman Studios, said: “We launched this initiative to remove barriers to entry for women with incredible stories to tell, and I’m ecstatic to be expanding upon that mission in partnership with Endemol and Sharon to help bring the next great woman-created format to viewers around the globe. I’m also incredibly grateful to all of our mentors who are dedicating their very precious time to this programme and to supporting rising female creators.”

More details about Propelle will be released in January to coincide with the Realscreen Summit in Austin, Texas.
