Spanish producer Encarna Pardo González will leave the Boomerang TV Group after 26 years to join ITV Studios Iberia where she will become the executive producer of La voz España (Antena 3).
The announcement was made by the Spanish arm of ITV Studios, which launched at the end of 2023 and has been absorbing the production of many of the company’s formats, including The Voice.
The singing talent show was previously produced by Grupo Boomerang TV and had González as executive producer.
She has overseen the successful franchise in Spain and all its versions since its premiere on Telecinco in 2012. She was also executive director of entertainment for Boomerang TV Group.
At ITV Studios Iberia, she will oversee all creative, content and production aspects of the franchise in all its versions and will report to Nathalie Garcia, the company’s general manager.
Raúl García has been appointed executive director of programmes in her stead. In his new role, García will drive the company’s strategy in unscripted.
García has extensive experience in the sector. He was part of the Boomerang TV team when it was founded in 1998. For eight years, he held the position of content director of the production company and was responsible for the creation, launch and monitoring of formats such as El Diario de Patricia and La Hora de la Verdad (Antena 3), Salsa Rosa (Telecinco), Préstame tu Vida (TVE) or Soy el que más sabe de TV del mundo (Cuatro).
García began his television career in the mid-1990s at Antena 3, as part of Jesús Hermida’s team. After years at Boomerang TV and Mandarina, he returned to Atresmedia in 2010 to lead an internal production and format development unit.
From that position, he was commissioned in 2012 to design, create and launch Hola TV, a joint project between ¡Hola! magazine and the Atresmedia Group that launched a cable channel for Latin America and the US, based in Miami. As VP of original production and content, he was responsible for the creation of the programme production department, designing and launching various in-house production spaces.
For the last 10 years he has directed ¡Hola! Media, the audiovisual division of the ¡Hola! Group.
“I am happy to begin this new stage in a project that I saw coming into being from the beginning, that I love and that I consider one of the best television formats. In addition, I am especially excited to finally work with Nathalie at ITV Studios Iberia. We have always followed parallel paths and, in the end, we are lucky to walk the same path,” said González.
“I am delighted that Encarna has accepted the opportunity to join ITV Studios now that we are bringing production of The Voice in-house. We greatly value her knowledge and relationships in the industry, and it is exciting to combine her years of experience with a fresh perspective on production,” added Nathalie Garcia.
