MediaHub, the Istanbul-based distribution company led by Kerim Emrah Turna, and Dubai-based media firm Geophil are partnering to produce Turkish dramas together.
Emrah Turna, MD of MediaHub, who set up the company in 2021 having left Turkish broadcaster Kanal D’s distribution arm after 15 years, will work with Geophil MD Robin Phillip on the projects.
The first project to come out of the partnership is expected to begin production imminently and will be joined by others, with details set to be announced at a later date.
Phillip arrived at Geophil last year after working in leadership roles at OTT platform Viu and India’s media Zee Entertainment. He and Emrah Turna have a long working relationship dating back to their days in corporate media.
The partnership aims to bring together MediaHub’s expertise in Turkish dramas and distribution with Geophil’s strategic know-how of handling coproduction across various markets.
Geophil began as a print media distribution company in 1985 before moving into video production.
Since being launched two years ago, MediaHub has focused primarily on IP investments and distribution with international partners. Its partnership with Geophil will see it begin its move into production and MediaHub will act as the sole distributor of the titles produced.
Emrah Turna said: “The appetite for well-produced Turkish content is only getting stronger. Geophil and Robin Philip are invaluable partners not just in the Asia and MENA region, but also globally.”
Philip added: “Turkish content is among the most watched across the world and we plan to work towards creating content that can travel to more markets and has global appeal.”
