Produced by Making Movies Oy and directed by Ulla Heikkilä and Jan Forsström, Are We Still Us is an eight-parter about a woman who mediates divorced couples’ disputes over child custody.

Psychological thriller My Son Joel is a two-part miniseries based on UK show A Mother’s Son, which focuses on the murder of a young girl. The Finnish adaptation will be directed by Saara Cantell and produced by ITV Studios Finland.

The Hired Hand is an eight-part comedy drama about a father in his 40s who competes with his newly hired handy man. The series is directed by Pete Riski and produced by Tack Films.

The three shows will be released on Elisa Viihde Viaplay between 2022 and 2023. Launched by Elisa Viihde in partnership with Viaplay owner Nordic Entertainment Group last year, the platform combines the two companies’ streaming services in Finland.

Ani Korpela, director of content business at Elisa Viihde, said: “Our original series are thriving with foreign audiences and have been sold in more than 30 countries. We’re proud that Finnish drama is attracting international audiences too. For example, our psychological thriller Man in Room 301 is the first ever Finnish series to show on the BBC in the UK.”
