Elephant trumpets int’l scripted arm

French indie Elephant is expanding its production business by launching an international scripted division led by a former Newen executive.

Elephant International will build on the company’s existing scripted business under Sandra Ouaiss, who joined the company a year ago from Newen where she had been head of international coproductions.

The new arm will focus on producing French-language series for major SVoD platforms and major international drama copros. It will also produce English-language content for streamers.

It is in the market for foreign drama projects that can be adapted for the local market having already worked on WorkinGirls, a French version of Swedish drama Nurses for pay TV operator Canal+.

Ouaiss already has adaptations in development from Keshet and Cineflix, and Elephant International is launching with a slate of projects already in the advanced stages of development.

Thierry Bizot, Elephant’s CEO, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Sandra on the launch of Elephant International. We are confident her experience of working with international SVoDs will be a huge asset to us going forward’
