The Librarians: The Next Chapter stars (L-R) Bluey Robinson, Olivia Morris, Callum McGowan & Jessica Green

MIPCOM: Broadcasters in Canada, Europe and Africa have acquired The Librarians: The Next Chapter (12×60’) following deals with LA-based production and distribution company Electric Entertainment. In addition, The Ark (24×60’) has been picked up in new territories in Europe.

The deals, announced on the first day of Mipcom by Sonia Mehandjiyska, head of international distribution at Electric Entertainment, include both pay and free TV rights for The Librarians spin-off series, set to debut on TNT next year.

NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct-to-Consumer has secured pay TV rights across multiple regions, including France, Iberia, Poland and several Balkan countries such as Albania, Croatia, Kosovo and Serbia, along with undisclosed territories in Africa.

In Canada, Bell Media has acquired the rights to The Librarians: The Next Chapter, while Bulgaria’s Nova Broadcasting Group has taken free TV rights.

The new series, a spin-off from the original The Librarians, follows a time-traveling librarian from the past who becomes stranded in the present. The cast includes Callum McGowan (Jamestown), Jessica Green (The Outpost), Olivia Morris (Hotel Portofino) and Bluey Robinson (Britannia).

Alongside The Librarians: The Next Chapter, Nova Broadcasting has also acquired free broadcast and digital rights to seasons 1 and 2 of Electric’s series The Ark. Additionally, Munich-based Palatin Media has picked up SVoD and FAST rights to the Syfy drama in German-speaking Europe.

Mehandjiyska commented: “We’re confident that audiences across these regions will embrace the magic and adventure of The Librarians: The Next Chapter.”
