El Presidente gets second term at Amazon

El Presidente focuses on the 2015 FIFA corruption scandal

Amazon Prime Video has renewed its Latin American comedy-drama series El Presidente for a second season.

The series is exec produced by Armando Bó, known for co-writing the Oscar-winning film Birdman. Bó is also showrunner on El Presidente, which focuses on the real-life scandal that embroiled FIFA, the global governing body of association football, in 2015.

The protagonist for the series is former Chilean FA president Sergio Jadue, who was caught up in a US$150m bribery scandal in what was dubbed ‘FIFA Gate.’ Jadue is played by Colombian actor Andrés Parra.

After airing in Spanish last summer, an English-dubbed version of season one was made available in November 2020. Production on season two (8×60’) begins this month in Uruguay.

Bó’s production company About Entertainment, which he launched last year, produces the series along with Narcos prodco Gaumont, Argentina’s Kapow and Chilean production company Fabula.
