The Miami-based executive, who announced his departure on LinkedIn, began working as a consultant with the US company in 2019, supporting the launch of SVoD platform Paramount+ in Latin America.

That same year, he officially joined the company, leading the expansion of Pluto TV first in Latin America and then in countries across Europe, Canada and Australia.

“Alongside some of the most talented teams I’ve ever worked with, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to Pluto TV’s international growth, securing 485 content deals, launching 1,400 channels and delivering 300,000 hours of content to millions of viewers around the world,” Arias wrote.

The exec also highlighted the key milestones of his six years at Paramount, including making Pluto TV the first global FAST platform to premiere six films in first window; the launch of Beija Sapo, the AVoD streamer’s first original reality show in Brazil; and the acquisition of live rights for FAST to the Olympic games.

A lawyer by profession, Arias has over 25 years of experience, specialising in the intersection of media and technology. His career ranges from founding start-ups like Tokenzone and Anthropolitan Films to scaling global operations, focusing on building partnerships, managing negotiations and launching products.

Prior to Paramount, he spent seven years at Sony Pictures Entertainment, leading programming and content acquisitions for the group’s channels and platforms in Latin America and Brazil.

He also had stints with the mobile technology platform Nearpod, content distributor DLA, which was acquired by Claro Video, and Viacom.
