US studio Lionsgate has completed the UK sale of the show here in Cannes having produced it along with Universal Television, The Tannenbaum Company, Feigco Entertainment and Universal Music Group.

The series stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory), Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect), Alex Newell (Glee), John Clarence Stewart (What/If), Peter Gallagher (The OC) and Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen (The Last Man on Earth).

The plot focuses on a whip-smart computer coder forging her way in San Francisco. After an unusual event she starts to hear the innermost wants and desires of the people around her through songs.

Karl Warner, controller of E4, said: “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will make you laugh, make you cry and make you sing. It’s a brilliant piece of uplifting television that we’re thrilled to have coming to E4.”

NBC ordered a pilot of the show in January and then picked it up to series in May. It is due to premiere as part of the US broadcast network’s midseason.
