Dutch format The Connection launched on Germany’s Sat.1, MediaLane kicks off Goal!

The Connection is hosted by Matthias Opdenhövel

Global travelling quizshow format The Connection is to debut in Germany today, with a local language version hosted by Matthias Opdenhövel.

Produced by Cologne-based prodco Brot&Butter Entertainment and titled The Connection – Wer knackt die Verbindung?, the seven-part series will air on commercial broadcaster Sat.1.

Originally created by Iris van den Ende’s Amsterdam-headquartered production company MediaLane, the format sees contestants take on a series of mental challenges to find the ultimate connection.

The Connection has already found buyers in multiple countries, including Spain’s LA1 and NPO1 in the Netherlands. More local adaptations are in development in France, Italy and Portugal. All Right Media is handling global sales.

Meanwhile, MediaLane will launch its new format Goal! at Mipcom next month. In a custom-made dome, undiscovered young football players compete in a series of physical and mental challenges.

Iris van den Ende said: “MediaLane is making exciting strides on an international level. For the first time, we are bringing an advanced new format to Mipcom, and the rollout of The Connection across multiple countries is very promising.

“We are particularly thrilled about the upcoming German launch. We also can’t wait to share more news soon about Stars on Stage, which already has options in five countries.”
