DRG hires from Shine, BBCWW

Modern Times Group-owned UK distributor DRG has appointed senior executives from BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) and Shine.

Richard Halliwell, previously commercial director for entertainment formats at BBCWW, has joined DRG as chief operations officer. Wayne Davison joins from Shine as commercial director.

While at the BBC Halliwell was in charge of entertainment format Dancing With The Stars from 2009 to 2013 during which time it rolled out into 40 international markets.

He will be responsible for the day to day operations and delivery of DRG content to its clients and partners.

Davison left his director of legal and commercial affairs role at Shine in September last year. He has previously worked with FremantleMedia and MTV, and across programmes and brands such as The X Factor, Merlin and MasterChef.

He will now be responsible for the commercial growth of the programmes and brands from DRG’s producers. He will also manage DRG’s legal and business affairs and rights team.

Jeremy Fox, CEO at DRG said: “As we enter the New Year, we thought it necessary to extend the team as we look to grow the company and focus on our future as part of the MTG family.”

DRG was acquired by Scandinavian broadcasting giant MTG in June last year.
