Dramacorp, Isolani find Rare drama

Dramacorp, the Stockholm-based production company founded last year by Patrick Nebout and Jan Mojto’s Beta Film, is codeveloping a sci-fi series with French production house Isolani Pictures.

Rare (8×45′) is the first coproduction between Dramacorp and Isolani, which are both backed by Beta Film, and the second Swedish-French drama copro following Midnight Sun.

The show, which is being written by Alex Haridi (Real Humans) and directed by Thierry Poiraud (Zone Blanche), is set in a parallel future when Earth is running out of oxygen and follows healthy people being cryogenically frozen for two centuries under a government programme.

Its executive producers are Dramacorp’s Nebout (Midnight Sun) and Mia Sohlman, who created and produced SVT’s political thriller Blue Eyes, along with Isolani’s Alexandre Richardot and Daniel J. Cottin (Metal Hurlant Chronicles).

Poiraud said: “Nordic and Baltic landscapes are the perfect backdrop for our story and the world we’re creating. Alex Haridi is bringing not only his sensitivity to the universe and the characters but also his political conscience in Rare. It is an epic tale with a strong ecological undertone.”

German producer and distributor Beta launched Dramacorp with Nebout, the former creative director of Atlantique Productions, last year. The firm is focused on the origination, development and executive production of high-concept dramas with international appeal.
