DR, NRK among pre-buyers for BBC’s Attenborough series The Mating Game

Silverback Films’ The Mating Game is being produced for the BBC and Discovery

DR in Denmark and NRK in Norway are among the international broadcasters to have pre-bought the latest David Attenborough-fronted BBC blue-chip natural history series.

The Mating Game is being produced by Silverback Films for the BBC and Discovery, coproduced with China’s Bilibili, France Télévisions and Japan’s NHK.

The series, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, explores five different habitats across six continents and reveals the varied and often bizarre strategies different animals use to find a mate.

BBC Studios has pre-sold the series, which debuts in the UK on October 3, into Canada (Radio-Canada), Estonia (ETV), Spain (Movistar+), New Zealand (TVNZ) and Lithuania (LRT).

The series will also premiere on BBC Earth channels in Asia, Canada, CEE, Middle East, Nordics, Poland, Africa and Turkey.

BBC Studios has also secured international pre-sales for Universe, a five-part science series from the makers of The Planets.

Universe uses CGI imagery, the latest scientific research and archival footage captured during scientific missions, to immerse viewers in the story of the universe, from its moment of inception 13.8 billion years ago, to what could be its ultimate fate, trillions upon trillions of years in the future.

It is produced by BBC Studios Science Unit, with Nova and GBH Boston, for the BBC and US pubcaster PBS, coproduced with Xigua Video and Bytedance.

Universe has been pre-sold into Denmark (DR), France (France Télévisions), Germany (ZDFinfo), Canada (Radio-Canada), Norway (NRK) and Russia (Yandex). The same BBC Earth channels listed above will also carry the series.
