DMG’s Mumbai office will be led by Indian media executive Devdatta Potnis. It joins the company’s outposts in Israel, Spain, Switzerland and Argentina.

Potnis has nearly 20 years of experience in the Indian media content industry, having most recently served as CEO of Animeta, an India-based generative AI tech start-up.

He was previously chief growth officer at India- and Singapore-based animation studio Cosmos Maya, where he played a key role in leading the company’s sales of more than 25 TV series. Prior to joining Cosmos Maya, Potnis served as chief manager, marketing and communications, for Reliance Media Works.

Among the series on DMG’s slate is the reboot of Spanish-language series Lalola, which debuted in February on TelevisaUnivision’s streaming service ViX. It also holds the series format rights in global territories outside of Latin America and the US.

Lalola, produced by Dori Media International, is a modern-day remake of the hit romantic comedy that originally aired between 2008 and 2009 and was remade in India by Sony Entertainment Television.

Nadav Palti, CEO and president of DMG, said: “We’ve been successfully selling content in India for years now and the dynamic growth that we’ve seen in that marketplace recently made it a no-brainer for us to open an office in Mumbai.”
