Distributor Cineflix Rights and London-based Papercup strike AI dubbing partnership

Mayday: Air Disaster was dubbed into neutral Spanish

London-based distributor Cineflix Rights has partnered with AI dubbing platform Papercup to bring factual series Mayday: Air Disaster to Spanish-speaking audiences across YouTube, broadcast TV and FAST platforms.

Papercup used the technology to dub over 100 hours of content from the long-running series into neutral Spanish within just three months. Cineflix Rights hopes it will unlock new commercial opportunities in the US Hispanic market and Latin America.

Made by Cineflix Productions, Mayday: Air Disaster (240×60′) has run for 26 seasons and investigates aviation disasters to see what went wrong and why.

Cineflix Rights and Papercup are now exploring the possibility of dubbing the series into three European languages, to further expand the title’s global reach.

Mike Gould, senior VP digital at Cineflix Rights, said: “We’ve already landed a new linear licensing deal using their AI technology for local versioning and have published across major AVoD and FAST platforms.”

Jesse Shemen, CEO and co-founder, Papercup, said: “This is just the first of many projects for Papercup and Cineflix Rights.

“As we’re eyeing a global market, and more specifically Europe, with Cineflix Rights, having this series of premium content dubbed to the highest broadcast quality specs in such a short timeframe is a feat that makes me very proud.”
