Disney TV reshuffle sees John Landgraf and Simran Sethi’s remits expand

John Landgraf and Simran Sethi

FX boss John Landgraf and ABC Entertainment’s Simran Sethi are set to take on expanded roles after Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden reshuffled the company’s TV division.

Under the changes, Landgraf, who serves as chairman of FX Content and FX Productions, will assume oversight of National Geographic and Onyx Collective.

Sethi, formerly the exec VP of programming and content strategy for ABC Entertainment, will see her remit expand to oversee programming and development for both ABC and Freeform.

At the same time, Tara Duncan, who was previously overseeing programming for both Onyx Collective and Freeform, will shift to focus solely on Onyx.

Courteney Monroe, the president of National Geographic content, will see her role expand to oversee all aspects of the brand, including its magazine and digital footprint.

Under the new structure, Duncan and Monroe will now report directly to Landgraf. Sethi will continue to report to Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded TV, will also continue to report to Erwich on the streaming side, in addition to now reporting to him for the development and programming of Disney Channel and Disney Junior.

Disney Television Studios will remain under president Eric Schrier, whose responsibilities expand to include Disney’s global original television strategy. In his new capacity, Schrier will work closely with Disney’s regional leaders.

The reshuffle, revealed in a memo to staff, represent the first major shake-up implemented by Walden since she was promoted to lead the newly formed Disney Entertainment group as co-chairman alongside Alan Bergman.

With the promotion, Walden now has oversight of ABC Entertainment, ABC News, ABC Owned Television Stations, Disney Branded Television, Disney Television Studios, Freeform, FX, Hulu Originals, National Geographic Content and Onyx Collective.
