Disney to make Snapchat content

Disney-ABC has become the latest TV company to sign up to produce exclusive content for social media outfit Snap Inc’s messaging app Snapchat.

The content and advertising agreement will see Disney-ABC produce TV spin-offs for Snapchat, beginning with an original series based on reality show The Bachelor.

The Snapchat Show, titled Watch Party: The Bachelor, will feature celebrities, comedians, fans and former contestants getting together each week to watch new episodes of the ABC dating series.

The first episode will debut on January 3 with nine others due to be made available on Snapchat the morning after each episode of The Bachelor.

In the following months, several additional shows from Disney-ABC will roll out on Snapchat, which is in the process of adding original, scripted and unscripted shows from a number of media partners to its Discover platform.

“Earlier this year we worked closely with Snap on a very successful The Oscars Live Story, and we look forward to building on that relationship and providing Snapchat’s mobile-centric users with a unique, immersive experience around our shows and brands,” said John Frelinghuysen, executive VP, digital media, strategy and business development at Disney-ABC Television Group.
