Disney takes S3 of ABC, BBCS’s Bluey

Bluey was ordered by the ABC and BBC Studios

The third season of popular Australian preschool show Bluey will debut internationally on Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney+ following a deal between the Mouse House and BBC Studios (BBCS).

The deal, which covers all territories outside of Australia, New Zealand and China, comes after Disney acquired rights to the first run of the series in 2019.

The third season of Bluey was jointly commissioned by Australian pubcaster the ABC and BBCS last year and is currently in production at Brisbane’s Ludo Studio in association with Screen Queensland and Screen Australia.

Created by Joe Brumm, Bluey follows a lovable and inexhaustible six-year-old puppy who lives with her dad, mum, and four-year-old little sister. In every episode, Bluey uses her limitless energy to play and turn everyday family life into extraordinary adventures.

The show is now available in more than 60 countries and Jane Gould, executive VP of content research, insights and scheduling at Disney General Entertainment, said: “The relatable, heartfelt and humorous storytelling in Bluey continues to captivate our young audiences and their families.”

The series is distributed internationally by BBCS outside of Australia and, as part of BBCS’s global deal with Disney, Bluey is also available to Disney+ subscribers as well as on CBeebies in the UK, where it has become the top-rated programme on the channel since launching last month.
