Disney+ preps Polish crime drama Breslau as its first CEE original production

US streamer Disney+ has announced its first original production in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) will be a Polish crime drama working titled Breslau.

Produced by Polish indie ATM Grupa (Wataha), the eight-part series focuses on police commissioner Franz Podolsky, who investigates a brutal murder in the run-up to the 1936 Olympics.

Directed by Leszek Dawid (Jesteś Bogiem), the cast includes Tomasz Schuchardt (Chrzest), Agata Kulesza (Róża) and Sandra Drzymalska (Filip).

Breslau is being made with financial support granted by the Polish Film Institute from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

Magdalena Cieslak, director original productions at Disney+ in CEE, said: “This is an important moment for Disney+ in Poland. It’s our first original production in Central and Eastern Europe and we are excited that such talented and experienced creators and actors are working on the project.

“We are also happy that our first Polish series will further expand the offer of productions intended for a wider audience.”
