Disney Junior Canada has picked up seasons one and two (156×12′) of the recently revamped toon, which is sold by Endemol Worldwide Distribution.

First appearing as part of a live-action series in 1992, the two banana characters were given an animated makeover by Southern Star Entertainment and Southern Star Singapore for ABC in Australia in 2011.

Disney Junior Canada has now picked up the latter series, which has also aired in the UK (Channel 5 and Cartoonito), Belgium (VTMK Zoom), Norway (TV2), Latin America (Discovery Kids & Discovery Familia) and the US (Netflix).

Each episode is a self-contained story in which the two bananas, B1 and B2, engage with their friends from Cuddlestown and have an adventure.

“Bananas in Pyjamas is a perfect fit for our schedule featuring engaging characters and strong storytelling attributes,” said Donna Dos Reis, director of programming for Astral Kids. The toon will begin airing on March 2 at 10.00 ET on Disney Junior Canada.
