Disney orders crowdsourcing sitcom

Disney Channel has begun production on a live-action comedy series from writers and producers Boyce Bugliari and Jamie McLaughlin (The Haunted Hathaways).

Coop & Cami Ask the World follows siblings who crowdsource their decision making

Coop & Cami Ask the World is aimed at six- to 14-year-olds and their families and will debut on Disney Channel in the US this fall.

The show follows two junior high school siblings who make nearly all of their decisions, both mundane and madcap, by crowdsourcing opinions from the millions of followers of their online channel.

The cast includes Dakota Lotus, Ruby Rose Turner, Olivia Sanabia, Albert Tsai, Paxton Booth and Rebecca Metz.

Adam Bonnett, executive VP, original programming at Disney Channels Worldwide, said: “We’ve wanted to work with Boyce Bugliari and Jamie McLaughlin for a long time and they’ve done a great job of incorporating crowdsourcing into a relatable family sitcom that’s perfect for our digital-native audience.”

Bugliari and McLaughlin will serve as executive producers and showrunners. The sitcom is also executive produced by Dan Cross and Dave Hoge (The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex, The Thundermans). Greg Schaffer (Lab Rats: Elite Force) is co-executive producer.
