Discovery+ takes Detox, Hawaii shows

Discovery+ has added to its original programming slate with a show that looks at addiction, recovery and redemption behind bars and another in which Guy Fieri explores Hawaii.

The Program: Prison Detox takes a first-hand look at how one small US town is handling the worst drug epidemic in American history and turning the tables on the justice system.

The staff of the Sevier County, Arkansas jail piloted a revolutionary programme to save its community, which has been devastated by drug addiction, by offering qualified inmates the unprecedented chance to walk free if they graduate from a three-month drug rehabilitation programme.

Produced by Big City TV, part of The Content Group, the first three episodes premiere on August 25 on Discovery+ and additional episodes arrive weekly after that.

Guy: Hawaiian Style, meanwhile, follows presenter Fieri and his family as they visit the Hawaiian Islands and go scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and sample the unique food culture.

Produced by Citizen Pictures, the four-part series will be available to stream on Discovery+ on August 28 and also features Fleetwood Mac drummer and co-founder Mick Fleetwood, who owns a restaurant on Maui.

“Guy takes ‘Hawaiian vacation’ to the next level as he hits the road less travelled, from excursions inside a volcano to swimming with manta rays after dark. The epic-action punctuated by the beauty and varied terrain of Hawaii makes it a ride viewers won’t want to miss,” said Courtney White, president of Discovery-owned Food Network.
