Discovery, Canal+ begin engineering

Canal+ has picked up How Did They Build That?

Discovery, Canal+ and Blue Ant Media are among a host of broadcasters to have picked up engineering-themed series from Beyond Rights.

Discovery in Italy and Canal+ in France and French-speaking territories have acquired the second season of Massive Engineering Mistakes (12×60’), which examines blunders made during construction projects around the world.

Produced by Argonon Group’s BriteSpark Films, both the first and second seasons have been picked up by Canada’s Blue Ant, with Hong Kong’s RTHK also acquiring season two.

Meanwhile, Discovery in Spain, Italy, Benelux and MENA have picked up the fifth season of Abandoned Engineering (12×60’), which explores the stories behind major structures that have been left abandoned. The show is produced by Shot Entertainment.

National Geographic Channel Europe has acquired the same season for Hungary, Poland and Romania, while  Blue Ant has picked up season five.

Elsewhere, Discovery in Italy, Auto TV in Russia and Germany’s Seven.One Entertainment Group have bought Architect Films’ Extreme Ice Machines. The 8×60’ series looks at the machines that keep working in the coldest temperatures on the planet.

Finally, Canal+ has licensed Curve Media’s How Did They Build That? (8×60’), which investigates the construction of some of the world’s modern engineering marvels.
