Discovery builds Hispanic bouquet

Discovery Communications is aiming to build its US Hispanic audience with the launch of new Spanish-language networks, one for kids and one a lifestyle spin-off from the main channel.

Discovery Kids en Español and Discovery Travel & Living (Viajar y Vivir) will make their debut in June, timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the launch of the original Discovery Channel in the US.

The two new channels follows Discovery en Español and will be operated out of a new US Hispanic Network Group, located within Discovery Networks International’s Latin America division in Miami.

Broadcasting 24 hours a day, Discovery Kids en Español and Discovery Travel & Living will each feature a mix of original productions and popular US, Latin American and other programmes created specifically to serve US Hispanic viewers.

Discovery will also introduce Discovery On Demand en Español – a Spanish-language on-demand service, featuring viewer favourites from Discovery Networks’ most popular genres.
