Digital Entertainment Group appoints new board including Paramount’s Dan Cohen

LA-based trade association DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group has appointed a new board led by Paramount Global’s chief content licensing officer Dan Cohen.

Cohen will serve as chair of the DEG board and will be joined by Google’s head of media, entertainment and global partnerships Jonathan Zepp as vice chair and PBS Distribution’s president Andrea Downing as chief financial officer.

Intel’s head of media and entertainment partnerships Rick Hack has been appointed secretary, with Warner Bros Discovery’s president of content distribution Jim Wuthrich named as chair emeritus.

The officers of the DEG board were elected to a two-year term and will serve through to July 2024.

DEG’s voting member companies also elected a new board of directors to serve for the 2022/23 financial year. Directors include A+E Networks’ exec VP of content licensing and business development Mark Garner, Comcast’s senior VP of consumer products and propositions Rebecca Heap and Disney Streaming Services’ exec VP of business operations Alisa Bowen.

Chris Blandy, global leader of strategy and business development for media and entertainment at Amazon Web Services, is also on the board of directors alongside Lionsgate’s president of global distribution Ron Schwartz and MGM’s senior VP of digital distribution and partner of engagement and strategy Andres Alvarez.

Elsewhere on the board of directors are Mark Young, senior VP of strategy, business and corporate development at Fandango and Vudu, and general manager of Rotten Tomatoes, Fandango and Vudu, NBCUniversal Streaming Services’ chairman of direct-to-consumer and international Matt Strauss and Paramount Home Entertainment’s president of worldwide home media Bob Buchi.

Samsung Electronics’ VP of integrated marketing Sarah Larsen also joins the board of directors with Sony Pictures Entertainment’s exec VP of distribution for North America Jason Spivak and Tubi’s chief content officer Adam Lewinson.

Completing the board of directors are Universal Film Entertainment Group and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s president Michael Bonner and Xperi Holding Corp’s chief content officer Bill Neighbors.

Meanwhile, Deloitte’s MD of media and entertainment Robin Tarufelli has been appointed as special board advisor for the 2022/23 fiscal year.
