DIC and BMG sign publishing deal

DIC Entertainment has signed an international sub-publishing deal with BMG Music Publishing International for its music catalogue.

Effective January 1, 2001, BMG will exploit and administer DIC works created after July 1, 1998 worldwide, excluding the US and Canada.

DIC will continue to administer its music rights for the US and Canada through its in-house music unit.

Comprising Incredible World Music, Romibia Melodies, Bomibia Music and portions of Tuxedo Mask music, the DIC music catalogue includes original theme songs, featured songs and background scores to the company's 2,500 half-hours of programming.

Currently airing in 112 countries worldwide, DIC programming includes Sabrina the Animated Series, Madeline, Sailor Moon and Sonic Underground.

The deal {significantly bolsters BMG's profile in children's TV programming,{ said Nicholas Firth, president of BMG Music Publishing Worldwide.
