Dexter returns to Showtime in limited series

Dexter made its debut on Showtime in 2006

US premium cablenet Showtime has commissioned a 10-part drama series centring on the serial killer character from Dexter.

The limited series will see the show’s star, Michael C Hall, return as conflicted serial killer Dexter Morgan and reunite him with showrunner Clyde Phillip. The new series is set to go into production early next year with a premiere pencilled in for the fall.

The original eight-season run of Dexter premiered on Showtime in 2006, starring Hall as a blood spatter expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlights as a murderer.

Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, presidents of entertainment at Showtime Networks, announced the order yesterday.

All existing seasons of Dexter are currently available on Showtime On Demand and Showtime Anytime.

Produced by Showtime, Dexter is executive produced by Clyde Phillips, Michael C Hall, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro and Scott Reynolds.
