Demon Headmaster boards Sinking Ship

The Demon Headmaster reboot debuted in 2019

Toronto-based kids- and family-focused prodco and distributor Sinking Ship Entertainment has picked up the distribution rights to UK series The Demon Headmaster from BBC Children’s Productions.

A reboot of CBBC’s 1990s series of the same name, The Demon Headmaster is a 10×22’ live-action kids’ show based on Gillian Cross’s book series. The remake, aimed at 8-12s, debuted on CBBC in late 2019 and a second season is set to go into production later this year.

Described by the producers as “part science-fiction, part psychological thriller,” The Demon Headmaster follows a group of teenagers who discover the headmaster at their school is using his powers of hypnotism, brainwashing and tech surveillance to take control of the school and its pupils. The teens must then do everything in their power to defeat him.

“We’re so thrilled to be working with BBC Children’s Productions to bring this intense mystery series to the world. We’re confident the quality of the storytelling and acting will really resonate with audiences worldwide,” said Marilyn Kynaston, head of sales for Western Europe at Sinking Ship.
