RTL’s De Posch steps down as co-CEO

The co-CEO of Germany’s RTL Group is stepping down after five years at the helm, leaving Bert Habets in sole charge.

Guillaume de Posch

Guillaume de Posch, who first joined RTL back in 1993 and was made co-CEO in 2012, will stand down at the end of the year but will remain a non-executive board member.

Habets, who was made co-CEO in March following the departure of Anke Schäferkordt, will now be sole CEO of the group with overall responsibility for strategy and day-to-day operations.

He first joined RTL, parent company of FremantleMedia, in 1999 and, after a stint as chief financial officer (CFO) of RTL Nederland, became CEO of the Dutch operation from 2008 to 2017 prior to his promotion earlier this year.

Elmar Heggen will remain as RTL Group CFO but will also become the group’s deputy CEO, taking over responsibility for Groupe M6 and RTL Belgium.

Thomas Rabe, chairman of the RTL board of directors, said: “On behalf of the whole board, I would like to express a big thank you to Guillaume de Posch for his leadership at the helm of RTL Group since 2012.

“He has been key to transforming RTL Group into the most digital European broadcasting company, and to reinvigorating FremantleMedia’s creative drive. High-end drama productions such as The Young Pope and American Gods stand testimony to this achievement.”
