Days of Our Lives departs NBC after six decades

Long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives

NEWS BRIEF: Days of Our Lives, the Salem-set soap opera from Corday Productions and Sony Pictures Television, is leaving the schedules of US broadcast network NBC after 57 years and will air exclusively on streaming service Peacock from September 12.

The show, which has aired on NBC since its launch in 1965, making it one of the longest-running scripted TV shows in the world, will be replaced in the time slot by hour-long NBC News Daily. Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said: “With a large percentage of the Days of Our Lives audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.”
