Danny Dyer scales The Wall for BBC

The UK version of The Wall will be fronted by Danny Dyer

UK pubcaster the BBC and Endemol Shine Group’s Remarkable Television have teamed up to make a local version of US gameshow The Wall, with actor Danny Dyer hosting.

Created by SpringHill Entertainment and Glassman Media in collaboration with Universal Television Alternative Studio, the competition format first aired in the US on NBC in 2016 and has since been sold into 24 territories.

In the UK, The Wall air on BBC1 on Saturday nights, premiering later this year. It will be hosted by Eastenders actor Dyer and exec produced by Richard Hague.

“I’d never had a desire to host a gameshow before I saw this game. I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to help win the public some serious life-changing readies. I love it,” said Dyer.

Kate Phillips, controller of entertainment commissioning at the BBC, added: “The Wall is an exciting, challenging and tense quiz where destinies dramatically change with the drop of a single ball.”
