Dandelooo’s Mum is Pouring Rain sells to Italy as company opens Milan office

Mum is Pouring Rain

French animation producer/distributor Dandelooo has shopped animated short film Mum is Pouring Rain to Italian pubcaster Rai and opened an office in Milan.

Originally commissioned by French pay TV broadcaster Canal+ and coproduced by Laïdak Films and Dandelooo, the 26-minute film is about eight-year-old Jane, who must spend Christmas on her own with her grandmother while her mother struggles with depression.

An Italian-dubbed version of the French film will air on Rai kids’ channel Rai Gulp.

Gennarino Romano, international sales and acquisitions manager at Dandelooo, said: “We look forward to the Italian version of this great special, as it’s always exciting to discover the tonality that the broadcaster and the actors create. It’s like having the pleasure of watching the movie several times with a different point of view.”

The sale comes as Dandeloo expands its Italian operations with an office in Milan. Romano will lead the office, taking responsibility for coproduction, acquisitions and international sales across CEE, CIS, Germany, Italy, and Portugal for Dandelooo’s entire production slate.
