Damla Dogan and Todd Hurvitz exit amid upheaval at Netflix US unscripted

Netflix relationship reality show The Ultimatum

Unscripted executives Damla Dogan and Todd Hurvitz are leaving their roles at Netflix.

The move, first reported by Deadline, comes during a year that has seen significant change for the streaming giant’s US-based unscripted team.

In January, Jenn Levy left her position as VP of non-fiction (she has since resurfaced as president of 32 Flavors) and the following month the streamer revealed former NBCUniversal Television Entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin was joining as VP of unscripted series.

Some of Netflix’s more popular unscripted series are in the dating and food category, including Love Is Blind, The Ultimatum and Chef’s Table, although the streamer has started to shift its focus towards slightly more broad-based programming.

Dogan, who served as director of unscripted, had been with Netflix since 2018. Before that, she spent more than a decade at E! Entertainment Television in several roles including senior VP of development and programming.

Hurvitz, who was a director of non-fiction series, had been with Netflix for more than three years. He previously had stints as executive producer at The Intellectual Property Corporation, Brian Graden Media, Truly Original, Original Media and All3Media.

Elsewhere, Netflix announced it has renewed its teen mystery drama Outer Banks for a fifth and final season. The greenlight comes ahead of the premiere of the second part of the fourth season, which is scheduled to debut later this week.
