CTC welcomes My Family to Russia

MIPTV: Russian broadcaster CTC Channel has ordered a pilot for a local remake of hit BBC sitcom My Family.

The show will be adapted by Russia’s Art Pictures Vision with the series’ original producer, DLT Entertainment, consulting on the project.

The deal was struck with distributor DLT Raydar, a joint venture between DLT and London prodco Raydar Media, and marks the company’s first scripted format agreement in Russia.

DLT Raydar jointly handles finished programme sales of the show with BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC.

Vyacheslav Murugov, chief content officer at CTC, said: “Sitcoms form the core of CTC primetime broadcasting. In addition to production of original ideas, we also make adaptations of the best international series. My Family is one of the most successful British sitcoms, and conceptually it suits the audience of CTC.”

Don Taffner Jr, chairman of DLT Entertainment and DLT Raydar, said Russia was “a fertile market for scripted format adaptations,” adding that the format “lends itself perfectly to local adaptation with TV audiences all over the world.”

My Family debuted on BBC1 in the UK and has run for 11 seasons, focusing on the trials and tribulations of family life.
