Sony-owned US anime streamer Crunchyroll is adapting South Korean web novel Solo Leveling into an anime series.

Japanese animation studio A-1 Pictures will produce the series, which will launch on Crunchyroll worldwide outside of Asia. Shunsuke Nakashige is the director, while head writer is Noboru Kimura.

Originally written by Chugong and illustrated by Dubu (Redice Studio), Solo Leveling is set in a world where humans have awakened to supernatural powers and must battle deadly monsters.

Elsewhere, Crunchyroll has acquired the fourth season of Overlord, based on the Japanese novel series of the same name. Overlord IV will stream on the platform from tomorrow.

Crunchyroll has also acquired season two of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, which will debut in 2023. The show is based on the Japanese light novel series of the same name.
