Critical Content sets first-look deals with WBITVP Australia, Blue Engine Studios

US-based unscripted outfit Critical Content has expanded its roster of international partnerships through a pair of first-look deals with Warner Bros International Television Production (WBITVP) Australia and Dubai-based Blue Engine Studios.

Jenny Daly

Stéfanie Gelinas, executive VP of global formats and development, will oversee the pacts for the SK Global-backed company, led by Jenny Daly.

The deals come after Critical Content inked partnerships with Korea’s Something Special, Singapore’s Refinery Media, Belgium’s Be-Entertainment and ITV Studios France.

Critical Content is behind formats such as Catfish, The Great Food Truck Race, Instant Dream Home and Celebrity Game Face with Kevin Hart.

WBITVP Australia produces local versions of international formats including The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Impractical Jokers, The Celebrity Apprentice, The Masked Singer and Dancing with the Stars, while Blue Engine produces project such as Million Dollar Land.

“The market is dictating partnerships more than ever. We are building a community of companies all with incredible content creators and tremendous respect and reach in their regions,” said Daly.

“We are so excited to now align our creative with WBITVP Australia and Blue Engine Studios.”

Michael Brooks, WBITVP Australia’s managing director, said the company was drawn to the deal because of Critical Content’s track record of creating innovative formats and its relationships with international talent.
