Crime+Investigation to bring killer Ed Gein to screen with help of AI

Ed Gein was convicted of two murders but suspected of many more

UK producer Spirit Studios, Hearst Networks EMEA and distributor BossaNova Media have teamed up to coproduce docudrama Ed Gein: Original Psycho for Hearst’s Crime+Investigation network in the UK.

The 2×60’ true crime series explores the twisted mind of the killer who inspired films Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs.

It is based on the reconstructed transcripts of Gein’s original confessions from November 1957, brought to life via AI and an actor portraying the detective who led the real-life interrogation.

Directed by Spirit Studios co-founder and creative director Matt Campion, produced by Martin Sadofski and filmed on location in the UK and US, the docudrama will premiere on Hearst Networks’ Crime+Investigation this autumn. BossaNova is handling international distribution.
