Crackle takes another spin with Seinfeld

Sony’s online video service Crackle has renewed Jerry Seinfeld web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee for an extended 24-episode second run.

The series, which debuted in the US last summer with a 10-episode run, will start production on its second season shortly and air again exclusively on Crackle some time in the spring.

The first featured Seinfeld’s conversations with comedians including Ricky Gervais, Michael Richards, Alec Baldwin and Larry David. It clocked more than 10 million streams, according to Sony.

Seinfeld is the exec producer of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television subsidiary Embassy Row.

The latest original commission for Crackle comes as Sony reportedly considers the launch of its own full-blown over-the-top TV service.
