Canada’s Corus Entertainment has greenlit a further two film adaptations based on the Anne of Green Gables series of novels by LM Montgomery.

The first TV movie, known simply as Anne of Green Gables, aired on Corus’s Canuck network YTV earlier this year and has also been picked up by PBS in the US, ITV in the UK and ARD in Germany.

It will now be followed by Good Stars and Fire & Dew, the second and third instalments of Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables series. The shows will be produced by Canada’s Breakthrough Entertainment and will premiere on YTV in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Directed by John Kent Harrison and based on the original script by Susan Coyne, the first adaptation starred Martin Sheen as one half of the brother-sister couple that cares for Anne Shirley.

In related news, Corus Entertainment has sold the first two seasons of lifestyle series Masters of Flip and property show Buying the View to Discovery Channel for TLC in Poland and DLife in MENA.

A+E Networks UK’s Lifetime has also picked up the former series, which follows property renovators attempting to make money on their properties.
