Coronavirus doc to air on HBO

In the Same Breath will debut at the Sundance Film Festival

HBO in the US has boarded a documentary that investigates the Covid-19 pandemic from the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan to its arrival and spread across the US.

After debuting at the Sundance Film Festival, which begins today, the doc will air on HBO and streaming platform HBO Max later this year as part of the HBO Documentary Films strand.

Directed by US-based Chinese filmmaker Nanfu Wang, In the Same Breath is produced by Jialang Zhiang, Julie Goldman, Christopher Clements and Carolyn Hepburn. Sara Rodriguez is senior producer for HBO, while the exec producers are Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller.

Wang said: “HBO Documentary Films came on board shortly after we began our production in the early days of Wuhan’s outbreak – it was before most of the world seemed to be paying attention to the outbreak. The trust they showed us and the freedom they gave us enabled this film to become the best it could be.”
