CNBC adds Profit in UK

CNBC’s The Profit

US business news channel CNBC will start airing reality-style programming on its UK channel for the first time this week.

The network will debut The Profit on its UK feed at 22.00 on Tuesday, the first time programming of that type has been carried.

The series airs on CNBC Prime in the US, which broadcasts lifestyle reality programming with a business theme during the evening.

It follows businessman Marcus Melonis who hunts for struggling businesses desperate for cash and attempts to turn them around using US$2m of his own money.

The show first aired in 2013 with a six-episode run and has since had extended second and third seasons commissioned. Machete Productions is the US prodco behind the show.
