Clangers land on China streamers

The original Clangers was produced by Smallfilms for the BBC

A host of VoD platforms in China, including iQiyi and Tencent Video, have bought UK preschool series Clangers.

Under a deal struck between children’s entertainment company Coolabi Group, which owns the rights to Clangers, and China’s Fantawild Animation, the show is now available on iQiyi, Tencent Video, Youku, Mango TV, NewTV, BesTV, GITV, Sino Media and Prosee.

Clangers is a stop-motion animated show about a family of pink, mouse-like creatures who live on a Little Blue Planet and communicate in whistles. It originally aired on BBC1 in the UK between 1969 and 1972, and was rebooted in 2015.

Its launch in China follows an agreement between Coolabi and Fantawild in 2019, through which the latter planned to bring the brand to the Chinese market.
