CJ polishes up English Gem

Studio 100 Media preschool toon Maya the Bee

South Korean broadcaster CJ E&M has picked up two children’s shows, including the second season of Maya the Bee, for its upcoming channel English Gem.

CJ E&M will air both the 52×12′ second season of Maya the Bee and the recently completed second run of preschool CGI series Tip the Mouse (26×7′).

The deal, with European kids’ firm Studio 100 Media and its recently acquired sister company M4E, also includes rights to preschool series Florrie’s Dragons (52×10′).

The shows will air on CJ’s preschool pay TV channel English Gem, which launches in May.

Elsewhere, Singapore’s Mediacorp has acquired rights to kids’ CGI series Tashi (52×11′) and Nils Holgersson (52×13′) from Studio 100 Media for its channel Okto.

Last week CJ licensed a trio of preschool shows from French distributor Superights ahead of the launch of English Gem.
