CJ ENM America brings in former Rideback exec Courteney Tarantin as scripted VP

CJ ENM America, the US-based studio division of the South Korean media company, has named former Rideback executive Courteney Tarantin as its new VP of scripted television.

Based in LA, Tarantin will work across development and production of original scripted series, in addition to adapting IP from CJ ENM’s catalogue.

She will also serve as a creative lead for scripted projects and act as a “strategic link” between CJ ENM’s international production partners and studios in the US, said the company. Tarantin will report to Elsie Choi, executive VP, head of scripted TV at CJ ENM America.

The appointment comes less than two years since Choi joined CJ ENM America, also from Rideback. CJ ENM America’s former president of US scripted, Angela Killoren, left the company late last year.

Most recently, Tarantin was VP of television at Rideback, where she was part of a team that developed and sold projects to the likes of Prime Video, Paramount+, Hulu, CBS, ABC, NBC, Showtime and The CW.

Prior to that, she worked at Sony Pictures Television’s TriStar TV, working on titles including Hulu’s Shut Eye and Amazon’s Good Girls Revolt. Her career began in the TV department at talent agency Creative Artists Agency.

“Courteney brings an exceptional blend of creative instincts, strategic thinking and deep industry experience to CJ ENM America at a pivotal time in our scripted expansion,” said Choi.

“Her track record of championing distinctive voices and delivering compelling series across platforms aligns perfectly with our mission to build global stories that resonate.”
